A monolingual course of French idioms for intermediate to proficient students.
Français. Expressions idiomatiques is a course in French idioms that serves as excellent help for intermediate, advanced and proficient learners of French who would like to develop their vocabulary scope and expand their linguistic repertoire. Active knowledge of idioms in a foreign language reflects your high competence, as well as allows you to make your French utterances more interesting and diversified, which is especially crucial while speaking and writing.
The course contains 1,000 French idioms divided into four groups starting with the most popular ones, with a high level of frequency in the language, and going up to the most advanced and unusual. Each exercise is a simple question-and-answer task where you need to come up with a French idiom that fits the definition. In the answer mode, you will be provided with a sample sentence that shows how to use a given idiom in context.
In your first encounter with each exercise, you may not know the correct answer; it is only natural, especially if you are an intermediate learner. Familiarize yourself with the answer defined in the course; listen to the recording. When you come across the exercise again during repetitions, you will see that the idioms will sound familiar and you will be more and more at ease with your French vocabulary.
All the recordings in the course have been made by French native speakers.
